The purpose of the Grand Junction Fire Fighters Foundation is to provide financial support to fire fighters, fire fighter families, local residents & organizations supporting local residents who have suffered a significant personal tragedy. Our organization was created and is operated by fire fighters and volunteers who share a passion for helping others in need. Our funds are raised from events that bring people together in a fun, positive environment while also showing the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Grand Junction Fire Fighters Foundation $1000 Academic Scholarship
New Recipients
Qualifications:

Applicant’s parent/legal guardian must be a full time Fire Fighter/EMT with the Grand Junction Fire Department or a retired Grand Junction Fire Department Fire Fighter/EMT with with at least 15 years of service. If there are not enough applications to fulfill the awards then it will be opened to Professional and Volunteer firefighters working for a fire department in Mesa County.

Applicants must be entering into an institution of higher learning (Junior College, College or University) in the Fall of 2024. The Applicant must be accepted by the institution by August 1st, 2024 when awards will be paid out. The Applicant may also be a current student of an institution of higher learning.

All documentation must be submitted within the application period to be considered. Required documentation includes:

A list of academic and non-academic awards, extra curricular involvement and community service.

A 500-750 word essay describing a change you would like to make in the world. Tell us about how you would make the change and what obstacles you might encounter along the way.

His/her transcripts (must have a 3.0 or above non weighted gpa).

2 letters of recommendation.

Documents # 2-5 must be combined into a single .pdf document and uploaded with the online application.
Previous Recipients
Previous recipients of the scholarship will have priority in receiving concurrent scholarships for up to four years.

Scholarship Committee: The Board of directors for the Grand Junction Fire Fighters Foundation and nonaffiliated citizens of Mesa County will review applications and essays
The Foundation has limited funds and therefore not all grant requests can or will be funded. Decisions on funding will be made by the Board of Directors of the GJFF Foundation. The Board will consider the following factors in making funding decisions: the event causing the harm must have occurred within six months of the application; the nature of the tragedy; the cause of the tragedy; the impact of the tragedy on the applicant or his/her family; the financial circumstances of the applicant and the intended use of any award. The Foundation reserves the right to investigate any information contained on this application in order to assist with the funding decision. Please complete the entire application as it assists the Board of Directors with award decisions. This information is held with complete confidentiality and is solely used to determine the need for the grant.
